Jacksonville City Schools Welcomes Dr. Michael Barber as New Superintendent

Jacksonville, AL – The Jacksonville City Schools (JCS) Board of Education convened for its regular meeting, preceded by a reception to formally welcome Dr. Michael Barber as the new superintendent. Dr. Barber, previously serving as Interim Superintendent, stepped into the role permanently after a rigorous selection process where his dedication and expertise shone through.

The reception, attended by guests including Jacksonville Mayor Smith, Councilmembers Laster and Taylor, and Commissioner Patterson, among others, was a celebration of Dr. Barber’s official appointment. Board members, administrative staff, and community members gathered to express their excitement and support for Dr. Barber’s leadership.

Board members Marita Watson and Teresia Hall shared their enthusiasm for Dr. Barber’s appointment, highlighting his passion for education, children, and the community as key attributes that make him an invaluable addition to the JCS family.
