Jacksonville, AL – The Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department, will host a vital blood drive for the American Red Cross on August 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Jacksonville Community Center. This event comes at a critical time, as the Red Cross has reported a significant drop in its national blood product supply, which has fallen by more than 25% since July 1.
Donors participating in this drive will not only contribute to a lifesaving cause but will also receive a $20 Amazon gift card via email as a token of appreciation from the American Red Cross.
One of the special donation options available at this drive is the Power Red donation. This method collects red cells while returning most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. To qualify for a Power Red donation, individuals must meet specific eligibility requirements and have blood types A Neg, B Neg, or O.
The Red Cross is working tirelessly with hospitals across the nation to meet the urgent blood needs of patients. However, the organization can’t do it alone and is calling on eligible donors to step forward and help provide the care that so many rely on.
For those interested in donating, a direct sign-up link is available through the American Red Cross website: Red Cross Blood Drive Sign-Up.
By participating in this blood drive, donors will be playing a crucial role in addressing the ongoing blood and platelet shortage and helping to ensure that hospitals can continue to meet patient needs during this challenging time.
