I recently had the opportunity to sit down with the owner of Jacksonville’s Framing4You, LLC. The owner, Daniel Clibrey and his wife Pam shared Framing4You, LLC concept as a custom framing business that helps people protect their treasured possession and designs. From concept to finished product, custom built frames and shadow boxes for collectors of art, sports memorabilia, document presentation (diploma’s, certificates), needle point, and personal collections. I learned there is a lot more to this small Jacksonville business than appears on the surface.

Daniel has always had an artistic eye and one day, decided to help a family member with a framing project. He realized that it was a challenge to match the frame type with a proper mat and glass casing to have the final product enhance the display item. When he was done with that first frame other members of his extended family began to request his services which he gladly obliged. Then in October of 2016 Daniel decided he wanted to start a formal business providing framing services for customers in the Jacksonville area.

Each project is as unique as the piece customers are looking to showcase, meeting with new customers is by appointment only. His reasoning behind this is to give customers one on one time to look through the hundreds of options in creating the perfect frame. The process of choosing the corresponding pieces is easy as Daniel walks customers through each phase of the selection process. I asked him how long the average meeting can take and he responded by saying “It can take 15 to 30 minutes, but I will help as long as necessary”. “We want to make sure that they are 100% happy with their choices”.

Frame SamplesDaniel walked me through the process, which was quite detailed. The customer will bring in the item that needs to be framed or shadow boxed so he can start with colors. He will then discuss the different types of frames that will complement the project and give the customer a wide variety of choices. He will then move on to the mat selection where the choices are again, vast. Certain types of projects will call for acid free paper and others do not, Daniel has all of the options covered and will explain why some are better than others without trying to “upsell” just for monetary gain. The final step is to choose the glass. Framing4You offers real glass and acrylic type, standard or museum quality, and also UV protection and standard. With all the options available Daniel will make sure you fully understand the purpose of each so you can make an educated decision.

Once the project has been decided on it can take from a couple of days, up to three weeks, depending on the materials chosen. Framing4You cuts each piece on site and never “farms out” work to insure the standards that Daniel expects. Each section of frame is hand cut and the joinery fits perfectly and the joinery is always tight, the mat is cut to make sure the item being displayed is fully revealed, and then the glass is also hand cut to make sure it seals correctly to protect the project.

Mr. Clibrey maintains stock on the premises but may have to special order uncommon types of framing materials. Once all of the items are in his possession he immediately begins working on the project and makes every effort to maintain the deadline promised.
Currently Framing4You has also started doing “in-house projects”. Daniel keeps his eyes open for rare autographs such as Donna Reed and Jimmy Stewart from “It’s a Wonderful Life” and then designs a frame and mat combination for resale (which is currently available). He also has autographs and photos from Shirley Temple, Natasha Richardson, Frank Sinatra, Gene Wilder, Val Kilmer, and much, much more. Some of the artists he uses are Larry Pitts, Greg Gamble, and Daniel Moore, and many of the prints are signed by the artist and sometimes the subject of the photo.

During our conversation Daniel also wanted us to know that he can do rehabilitation work to pictures or frames that you may already own but has gotten damaged over time. He is proud that they were able to provide some rehab work for the people that had damage from the March tornado’s that ripped through Jacksonville. If you have a piece and would like Framing4You to look at it, just give them a call to schedule a time for an estimate for the repairs.
In addition to his licensed and local shop here in Jacksonville, Framing4You also maintains a Facebook page (facebook.com/Framing4You) and Etsy page (etsy.com/Framing4You) where they showcase more of their work and items they have for sale. Daniel accepts Cash, Credit/Debit Cards, and Paypal for all purchases and payments for services rendered. To contact Framing4You please call 256-591-4593.
