JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State University Student Success Center will host a dual open house on Wednesday, September 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held in two locations: the Houston Cole Library, 6th floor, Room 6A, and the Testing Center, located on the ground floor in Room B22.
The open house will highlight two important areas within the Student Success Center: the Office of Transfer and Adult Student Learning Support (TASLS) and Testing Services. Faculty, staff, students, and community members are invited to tour the facilities, meet the staff, and learn more about the programs and services offered.
Transfer and Adult Student Learning Support
TASLS is the newest office under Learning Support Resources at Jax State. The office provides specialized resources for transfer students, adult learners, and non-traditional students who may be returning to college after a break, balancing family responsibilities, or connected to the military. Services include personalized success coaching, academic resources, and opportunities to connect with the campus community. The mission of TASLS is to ensure that all students—regardless of their educational path—have the support needed to succeed academically, personally, and professionally.
Testing Services
Testing Services, which has recently undergone a major update, now holds national certification as a testing center through the National College Testing Association. This designation expands the availability of standardized and professional exams, placement tests, and college credit assessments. The center also offers accommodations and access to assistive technologies, ensuring greater accessibility for students. Committed to fairness, security, and integrity, Testing Services provides testing opportunities not only for Jax State students but also for the wider community.
By hosting the dual open house, the Student Success Center seeks to showcase its expanded services and provide an opportunity for visitors to explore the resources available to support student success.
