Jacksonville, AL — Jacksonville State University’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences will present a live reading of the winning play from the prestigious Southern Playwrights Competition on Saturday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at Mason Hall, Room 350 Recital Hall, and is hosted by the university’s English Department.
The Southern Playwrights Competition has long been a platform for emerging and established playwrights to showcase their work, highlighting the rich storytelling traditions of the South. The winning play—selected from a competitive field of entries—will be brought to life through a dramatic reading featuring talented performers.
This event offers a unique opportunity for students, faculty, and the community to experience an original theatrical work in an intimate setting. Attendees will gain insight into the creative process of playwriting while celebrating new voices in Southern theater.
The live reading is free and open to the public.
