Jacksonville State University Hosts Walk to End Alzheimer’s®

East Central Alabama Walk

Jacksonville, AL – On October 13 at 2 p.m., Jacksonville State University will host the East Central Alabama Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, a pivotal event organized by the Alzheimer’s Association: Alabama Chapter. The walk will take place in front of the Theron Montgomery building, bringing together community members to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event dedicated to fighting Alzheimer’s disease, held annually in over 600 communities across the nation. This event serves as a vital platform for families affected by the disease, advocating for a future where Alzheimer’s is no longer a threat.

“We’re fighting for a different future—for families facing the disease today,” said a spokesperson from the Alzheimer’s Association. “For more time and treatments. We’re closer than ever to stopping Alzheimer’s, but to get there, we need you.”

The event encourages community involvement and offers several ways to participate:

  1. Register for Your Local Walk: Participants can start or join a team and invite others to walk alongside them. Registration is available at act.alz.org/ECA.
  2. Start Fundraising and Sharing: The Alzheimer’s Association provides tools to facilitate fundraising, including Facebook Fundraisers and the ALZ Fundraising app.
  3. Join Us on Walk Day: The walk will be a gathering of inspiring community members united in their commitment to ending Alzheimer’s. Participants are encouraged to come together for this meaningful event.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s® not only raises essential funds but also serves to educate the public about Alzheimer’s disease and the importance of supporting research efforts. Every dollar raised contributes to advancing research, providing care and support for those living with the disease, and fostering a greater understanding of the challenges families face.
