Jacksonville, AL – With summer registration underway at Jacksonville State University (JSU), students have the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom through a four-week study abroad program in Seville, Spain. As part of SH 399: Study Tour, this immersive experience offers an academic and cultural journey with no prerequisites—making it accessible to students of all backgrounds. However, spots are limited, and enrollment is filling quickly.
Led by Dr. Tania Abella, Assistant Professor of Spanish, the program blends structured language learning with real-world cultural exploration. Students will depart from Atlanta on May 17, arriving first in Madrid before traveling by train to Seville. While in Spain, participants will stay with local host families, providing a firsthand experience of Spanish daily life and language immersion.
Each morning, students will engage in Spanish language classes tailored to their skill levels, while afternoons and weekends will be dedicated to cultural excursions. Highlights include guided tours of historic sites such as the Alcazar Palace and Seville Cathedral, as well as hands-on experiences like Flamenco dance lessons and traditional Spanish cooking classes. The program also features trips to Cádiz and Granada, where students can explore diverse landscapes and architectural wonders.
The journey will conclude with a final stop in Madrid, allowing students to experience the capital city before returning home on June 15.
For those eager to travel and earn college credit, this program presents a unique opportunity to study abroad in an immersive and supportive environment. With a limited number of spots remaining, interested students are encouraged to act quickly.
