Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville State University (JSU) invites the community to join in the holiday cheer at the annual JSU in Lights event, kicking off the festive season tonight at 5 p.m. at the President’s House. The university will illuminate the holiday spirit with a ceremonial lighting, accompanied by hot chocolate, cookies, and delightful sleigh rides, making it a perfect evening for families and friends.
To add to the joy of giving, the Student Government Association (SGA) is spearheading a donation drive for the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center (JCOC) during JSU in Lights. The SGA encourages attendees to bring unwrapped toys, underwear, or gift cards suitable for youth aged 0-17. These contributions will brighten the holidays for local children and foster a sense of community giving.
The holiday festivities continue on Thursday, November 30, with the Marching Southerners taking center stage in the annual Jacksonville Christmas Parade. Starting at 6:30 p.m. from Pelham Plaza near Johnson’s, the parade will wind its way to the JSU campus. Spectators are encouraged to bundle up, grab a warm beverage, and line Pelham Road to enjoy this beloved community tradition.
Adding a touch of grace to the holiday celebrations, the Marching Ballerinas will literally kick off the season at Kickmas on Friday, December 1, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Stone Center, welcoming everyone from the community. Admission to Kickmas is a donation for the Gamecock Market, reinforcing the spirit of giving during the holiday season.
JSU extends a warm invitation to students, faculty, and the entire community to come together and embrace the festive spirit during these upcoming events. Let the joyous celebrations at Jacksonville State University mark the beginning of a memorable holiday season for all.
