Jacksonville State University Set to Light Up Little River Canyon Center with 11th Annual Bluegrass on the Rim

Fort Payne, AL – Jacksonville State University is gearing up for its 11th annual Bluegrass on the Rim (BGOTR) event on Saturday, June 8th at The Little River Canyon Center. This highly anticipated celebration of bluegrass music promises an unforgettable evening under the stars, with doors opening at 6 pm and music starting at 7 pm.

Advance tickets are available for $25 each through the event’s website, with day-of-show tickets priced at $30. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to enjoy the outdoor setting. Ol’ Tymers BBQ will be on-site, offering some of the South’s best barbecue, and cash payments are accepted. Coolers and leashed pets are also welcome. In case of inclement weather, attendees should check with Canyon Center staff for indoor venue details.

“There’s nothing better than friends and family on a summer evening, listening to Bluegrass on the Rim!” said Pete Conroy, Canyon Center director. “It’s an annual tradition, rich with the best music, food, and memories, not to be forgotten.”

This year’s lineup includes some of the finest talents in the bluegrass industry, promising a night of soulful melodies and energetic performances. Featured artists include Foggy Hollow Review, known for their unique blend of Appalachian musical traditions; Kelli Johnson, whose rootsy twang and powerhouse vocals have captivated audiences nationwide; The Steel City Jug Slammers, with their infectious energy and vintage sound; and a special performance by Kelli Johnson with guest star Megan Mullins, a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who has toured with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

“We are excited to host the 11th annual Bluegrass on the Rim,” said Sales & Services Manager, Anna Lindsey. “Ticket sales are trending well above average, so get yours early!”

Meet the Talent:

Foggy Hollow Bluegrass: Hailing from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Foggy Hollow Bluegrass brings a unique blend of traditional tunes and diverse musical backgrounds. Their music reflects their love for the rich heritage of bluegrass.

Kelli Johnson: Born and raised in North Alabama, Kelli Johnson’s music spans a wide range of influences, from Bluegrass and Country to Gospel and Motown. Her authentic style and award-winning songwriting have made her a beloved figure in the music world. Kelli continues to write, perform, and coach other creatives from her home just outside Nashville, TN.

Megan Mullins: A multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from Columbia City, IN, Megan Mullins has toured globally and performed with renowned artists like Shania Twain and the Jonas Brothers. Her music combines Bluegrass, Classical, Celtic, and Classic Country to create a unique sound.

The Steel City Jug Slammers: Since their inception in 2012, The Steel City Jug Slammers have been dedicated to recreating the sound of the original jug bands from the 1920s and 30s. Their lively performances and educational outreach have made them a staple in the jug band community.
