Jacksonville State University To Host Comprehensive Active Shooter Training for Students

Students to Participate in Active Shooter Training on Thursday, April 11.

Jacksonville, AL – In an effort to enhance campus safety and preparedness, Jacksonville State University (JSU) is set to conduct a large-scale active shooter training exercise on Thursday, April 11th. The Interprofessional Education Event, has been two years in the making and will see students from various departments and programs participate in simulated emergency scenarios.

The training will unfold across Pete Mathews Coliseum and the JSU South Complex throughout the morning, providing students with valuable hands-on experience in responding to critical situations. Collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies and emergency management authorities, including the University Police Department, Jacksonville Police Department, Jacksonville Fire Department, and Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency, JSU aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of emergency protocols and coordination among stakeholders.
