Jacksonville State University Welcomes Community for Open House for JSU South

Community Invited to Open House at JSU South

Jacksonville, AL –  An invitation is extended to the community to attend an open house hosted by the JSU School of Nursing on February 8, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at the recently renovated South Complex on the university campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Commencing in 2021, extensive renovations transformed the property now known as JSU’s South Complex. Initially the site of the former Jacksonville Hospital, this location was generously donated to the university in June 2018. This contribution occurred shortly after the campus experienced the destructive force of an EF-3 tornado, which led to the loss of the nursing building, Lurleen B. Wallace Hall.

Following the grand reopening of JSU South in the past fall, the university’s nursing program, which had been operating in various locations across campus, is now consolidated under one roof. This move brings together the top-ranked nursing program alongside its counterparts in the College of Health Professions and Wellness, encompassing the respiratory therapy and athletic training programs.

The community is warmly welcomed to explore the School of Nursing’s new facility during the open house, where light refreshments will be provided. Noteworthy events during the open house include a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the John G. Beard Family and Alabama Nurses Foundation Classroom at 5 p.m., followed by a tree dedication ceremony in honor of Dr. Martha Richey at 5:15 p.m.
