Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville State University’s College of Business and Industry has achieved a significant milestone with the recent reaffirmation of accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Widely recognized as the gold standard in business education worldwide, AACSB accreditation underscores the college’s commitment to excellence in academic standards and educational outcomes.
Established in 1916, AACSB International provides a benchmark for quality assurance and offers support to approximately 1,000 accredited business schools globally. Less than six percent of all business schools worldwide attain AACSB accreditation, making it a prestigious recognition in the field of business education.
Dr. Brent Cunningham, Dean for the Jax State College of Business and Industry, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating, “The AACSB accreditation is not just a hallmark of excellence; it’s a testament to our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of business education.” Cunningham emphasized the accreditation’s significance in signaling the college’s dedication to continuous improvement, innovation, and global impact in preparing students for the challenges of the future business landscape.
The accreditation process is voluntary and involves a rigorous external review of various aspects of the school, including its mission, faculty qualifications, curricula, and ability to deliver high-quality programs. Cunningham highlighted the faculty’s dedication to preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving marketplace and their commitment to fostering positive change through business leadership.
The mission of the College of Business and Industry at Jacksonville State University is to provide learners with a career-focused education that emphasizes responsible judgment, innovative thinking, entrepreneurial skills, and service to their communities. Comprising three professionally oriented academic areas—the Department of Communication, the Department of Applied Engineering, and the Departments of Business—the college offers specialized programs in finance, economics, accounting, management, marketing, and communication.
