Annual Fishing Rodeo

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Police Department, in partnership with the City of Jacksonville and the Alabama Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries Law Enforcement Section, will host its Annual Youth Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, September 27. The event will be held at the Public Safety Complex pond, located at 911 Public Safety Drive in Jacksonville.

The fishing rodeo is free and open to youth ages 15 and under. Check-in is scheduled from 8 to 9 a.m., followed by fishing from 9 a.m. until noon. After fishing concludes, lunch will be provided, featuring hot dogs, chips, and drinks, along with door prize giveaways.

Organizers aim to provide each child with a fishing pole, ensuring that all participants leave with equipment to continue enjoying the sport. In addition, one youth angler will be awarded a lifetime fishing license, donated by the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association. To be eligible for this prize, participants must be 15 years old or younger.
