Jacksonville Water Bills Lost in Birmingham Post Office

Jacksonville water bills lost in the mail

Jacksonville, AL – The City of Jacksonville has issued an alert that water bills may not have reached customers. The Jacksonville Waterworks Department sent out the bills in a timely manner, but they seem to have gotten lost in Birmingham. The City has issued the following release:

“Water bills are due Tuesday, May 10 — but you’ve probably already noticed that the bills haven’t arrived in our mailboxes!
Jacksonville Water Works, Gas & Sewer Board employees mailed them out on time last month, but the post office in Birmingham — which local mail must pass through, even if it will return to the same city — did not return the bills to the Jacksonville post office.
The good news: Bank draft accounts will be unaffected and pay automatically as usual. Those not enrolled in auto pay (bank draft) can visit jaxwaterworks.com to pay online, come by the office, mail a check or pay in the after-hours dropbox. Feel free to call the Water Works office at 256-435-7657 for more information.”
Michael Rinker, with the City of Jacksonville, has also stated that late fees will be waived, and Jacksonville water customers can call the office at 256-435-7657 to get their current bill amount. The Birmingham Post Office has confirmed that the bills were lost, and it is not a Jacksonville Post Office error.
