Jim Ogle is bound for Troy. Jacksonville’s rising senior quarterback announced his commitment via Twitter on Wednesday morning, his one-word tweet calling the Sun Belt Conference school “Home.”

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Ogle, son of former long-time Jacksonville State offensive coordinator Jim Ogle, picked the Trojans over offers from UAB, North Alabama, New Mexico and Samford.

“I chose troy because, from the first time I went down there, last summer I fell in love with the place,” he said. “The relationship I have with Coach (Joe) Craddock (offensive coordinator) and (Head) Coach (Jon) Sumrall has really grown, and I believe I can go down there and make an impact. “I love what they are building down in Troy and can’t wait to get down and be apart of it!!” Ogle was an honorable-mention pick on the 2022 Alabama Sports Writers Association’s all-state team. He completed 174 of 294 passes for 2,523 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2022. He also rushed for 252 yards and two touchdowns.

He was 153-for-228 for 2,179 yards and 27 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2021. As a freshman in 2020, he passed for 1,238 yards and seven touchdowns. “Troy is getting one of the best quarterbacks in the state of Alabama,” Jacksonville coach Clint Smith said. “There is no doubt he will go down there and make an impact. “He is a special player, and we are excited about his future and what he will be able to accomplish. We are extremely happy for him.” [read more sports stories….]
