Fresh off its third Calhoun County Tournament title in four years, the Alexandria volleyball team swept St. Clair County 3-0 Tuesday night to remain undefeated in area play.

The scores were 25-8, 25-20, 25-11. The Lady Cubs are 31-10, 5-0 in area play. They are 6-0 since the infamous 5:30 a.m. practice last Wednesday..

After fight off a tough first set, Munford went on to sweep Handley 3-0. The Lady Lions won the first set 27-25, then carried on 25-11, 25-19.

Anijah Gladden had 10 kills, Ellie Rose Jones had six kills and three aces, Kyleigh Hurst had two kills and 20 assists, Mekiah Mosley had 15 digs, and Kelsey Goodson had seven kills.

Brielle Wood had another big night for Westbrook Christian in a 3-0 victory over Gaston. She had 11 kills, 11 aces, 18 assists, eight digs and two blocks. In her last two matches, Wood has scored 20 kills, 38 assists, 16 aces and 24 digs.

The Lady Warriors play their final regular-season match Thursday at Spring Garden. It’ll be a match to determine which color jersey they’ll wear in their 2v3 area tournament opener against the Lady Panthers.
