Late Night Fire in Jacksonville – 1 Person Rescued

Fire in Jacksonville Alabama

Jacksonville, AL – At approximately 11:00 pm on September 25th, the Jacksonville Fire Department and Weaver Fire Department were dispatched to a possible structure fire on Fieldstone Way. Upon arrival fire fighters found an unoccupied building fully engulfed and a second structure beginning to burn. Firefighters on scene were alerted to a person possibly still inside a camper near the fully engulfed building and initiated a rescue. The firefighters were able to enter the structure and locate the person inside and safely guide them out of the building. The victim was transported to RMC for observation and safety purposes.

Witnesses reported hearing “gunshots” coming from the area. The Weaver Police Department confirmed that there was no-one shooting any firearms, but the shots could have been firearms ammunition being detonated by the fire. Jacksonville Fire Department advised that there were no injuries to any of the firefighters working at the scene.

The Jacksonville Fire Department advised that they received the initial call at 10:57 pm and were able to declare that the fire was out at 1:19 am. Firefighters remained on scene until 3:50 am to monitor for any flareups and hotspots. The cause of the fire has not been determined and the Fire Marshal is still investigating.
