Anniston, AL – On Saturday, July 26 at 3:00 p.m., the Anniston Museums and Gardens will host a unique educational program titled Letter from Iberia: The Tragic Love of Ines and Pedro. The event, held at the Berman Museum, will be led by intern Madison Konopka and focuses on a newly discovered artifact that brings renewed attention to one of history’s most poignant love stories.
The program highlights a 14th-century letter unearthed from the museum’s collection, which offers insight into the historic and tragic romance between Ines de Castro and Prince Pedro I of Portugal. Through this lens, Konopka will guide visitors in exploring the social and political complexities of medieval Iberia and how this dramatic tale of love and loss continues to resonate centuries later.
