As many of you have heard by now, our beloved school, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School, is set to close at the end of the current school year.
This has left families at school, incoming families and members of our community in total shock and disbelief.
We are feeling many things to include sadness, anger, worry, stress, disappointment and disrespect.
We deserve more information, transparency, accountability and assistance.
We were notified by email on February 18, 2022 and have yet to hear from the priest who supposedly made the decision. Despite our attempts, he has not called a school-wide meeting to offer us viable solutions. The families, staff, and children could offer a wealth of ideas and innovative solutions!
Another fact that is deeply troubling is the displacement of our minority students and students who are on financial scholarships. Will they have access to a comparable education if the school closes?
Despite being told otherwise, every effort was not made to keep our school open.
What a golden opportunity was missed, the chance to show our precious children that they indeed do matter as does our school.
