OXFORD, AL — The Oxford Performing Arts Center will host a unique theatrical performance on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6 p.m., as Lightwire Theatre presents its innovative adaptation of The Ugly Duckling.
The performance is part of the Potts Arts Discovery Series, which aims to bring engaging and educational arts experiences to the community.
Lightwire Theatre is known for blending technology with traditional storytelling, and this production offers a modern take on the classic tale. Using electroluminescent wire, performers bring characters to life through illuminated costumes and puppetry, creating a visually striking stage experience.
The show combines elements of dance, music, and visual effects, with a soundtrack that spans both classical and contemporary genres. Through choreography and lighting, the familiar story of transformation and self-acceptance is presented in a new and dynamic format.
Organizers describe the production as a fusion of art and technology, designed to appeal to audiences of all ages while introducing innovative approaches to live performance.
The event will take place at the Oxford Performing Arts Center, located at 100 E. Choccolocco Street in Oxford.
