Main Street Anniston Launches GETUP Anniston Entrepreneurship Program

GETUP Anniston Free Entrepreneurship & Business Start-Up Course

Anniston, AL – Main Street Anniston, in collaboration with Main Street Alabama, Main Street America, and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Jacksonville State University, has announced the launch of the GETUP Anniston Entrepreneurship Program. This new initiative offers a series of business classes aimed at supporting aspiring and current business owners at all stages of their entrepreneurial journey.

The GETUP Anniston program is free to participants and runs for six weeks, with classes held twice a month. It covers ten essential business topics ranging from creating a solid business plan to mastering social media marketing. The program provides invaluable insights designed for both new entrepreneurs and those with established businesses.

Bear and Sons

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from local professionals on key subjects, including:

  • Business Concept & Planning: Transforming ideas into actionable business plans.
  • Market Understanding: Analyzing markets and identifying business opportunities.
  • Business Tools, Structure, & Insurance: Effective business management and protection strategies.
  • Accounting Basics, Taxes, & Financial Statements: Mastering financial management and accounting.
  • Cash Flow Management & Business Financing: Managing cash flow and exploring financing options.
  • Business Locations & Understanding Leasing: Choosing locations and navigating leasing complexities.
  • Navigating Licenses, Permits, & Zoning: Ensuring legal compliance with local regulations.
  • Utilizing Historic Tax Credits & Grants: Leveraging financial incentives for business growth.
  • Marketing & Leveraging Social Media: Developing marketing strategies and optimizing social media use.
  • Local Resources & Civic Engagement: Connecting with local resources for business support.

While participants are encouraged to enroll in the full program for a comprehensive experience, individual sessions are also available to cater to specific interests. Graduates of the program could also be eligible to compete for up to $10,000 in seed funding, provided by Main Street Alabama and Main Street America, if their business is established in downtown Anniston.
