HEFLIN, AL — A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, resulted in the death of a Birmingham man.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Demetrius J. McGhee, 38, was fatally injured when the 2008 Ford Econoline van he was driving collided with a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer. The truck was driven by Michael L. Simpson, 55, of Camden.

McGhee was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Interstate 20 near Alabama 9, within the Heflin city limits in Cleburne County.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the incident. No further details have been released at this time.
