- Representatives from the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and spoke about an upcoming event called Ballers Against Bullets on June 10th at the Anniston Performing Arts Center
- Audrey Maxwell with the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Tourism spoke about the many events being held in Calhoun County.
- Dr. David West mentioned the recent Earth Day event that served so many local students. He also talked about recent 4H events.
- Jakob Williamson with the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce spoke about the upcoming State of Law Enforcement on May 30th and Legislative Review with Senator Keith Kelley on June 12th.
- Proclamation
- A proclamation was given to Mark Tyner. This was his last commission meeting before retiring. He was joined by his wife and three children. The commissioners and many county employees spoke of their experiences with him over the last six years. After adjournment all were invited to a reception in his honor.
- Commissioner Shears stated, “For the last three years that I have been around he has always had a one door and been there for the employees. Whatever lies ahead we know you will be successful.”
- Commissioner Howell stated, “I don’t know how many calls you got from others, but you got a lot from me. I appreciate everything you have done for me in the last 18 months.”
- Commissioner Wilson stated, “Mark was a fair man. Nothing bad ever came out of his mouth. He was a strong good man and a pleasure to work with.”
- Commissioner Henderson stated, “Well when I talked to Mark I used ugly language and told dirty language and he just laughed it off.”
- Commissioner Paterson stated, “Mark I appreciate you and this is a hard job. You have everybody pulling on you with different personalities. You handled it well and never were uncompleted and you took it like a man. You will be missed”
- County Attorney Gloria Floyd shared, “Mark is the annoying big brighter I never had. We have had many different moment and he is a super nice guy to work with and he will be missed.”
- County CFO Melissa Wood shared, “I want to second what Gloria said. Mark has been great. He never makes you mad or upset and it has been a joy to work with him.”
- Sheriff Matthew Wade shared, “I can be a little bit difficult on occasion and Mark is a good man and he will be missed.”
- Mr. Tyner thanked the commission for the opportunity and then stressed how none of this would have been possible without the support of his family. He commented all being a wonder staff and stated the job wasn’t that hard because of all the support. He also wanted to thank all the elected officials and appreciated all of them.
