Motorcycle Accident in Piedmont Sends Rider to UAB Trauma Unit

Piedmont, AL –  An accident occurred in Piedmont on Saturday when a group of motorcycles traveling together encountered an unfortunate accident. The mishap occurred as one of the bikes came to a sudden stop, leading to a chain reaction that resulted in a rider being thrown over the handlebars.

The rider suffered a significant head injury in the aftermath of the incident and was promptly air-lifted from the scene, located in the parking lot of the Piedmont Police Department, for immediate medical attention.

The injured individual was airlifted to the UAB Medical Center’s Trauma Unit in Birmingham. Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson confirmed that the rider is a resident of Gadsden.

The circumstances leading to the sudden stop and subsequent accident are currently under investigation, and additional details will be provided as they become available.
