Multiple Road Closures in Anniston

Anniston Street Closures

The Anniston public information officer, Jackson Hodges, shared that there will be several road closures in Anniston over the week.

May 5th – 9th | U.S. Courthouse Grand Opening

  • Late Thursday (05/05/22) night, Gurnee Avenue from its intersection with 12th Street up to the entrance of the new United States Courthouse will be closed.
  • Starting Friday (05/06/22) afternoon, the rest of Gurnee Avenue will be blocked; this closure will cover the 1100-1200 blocks of Gurnee Avenue.
  • On Monday (05/09/22) morning, 12th Street from its intersection with Moore Avenue to its intersection with Gurnee Avenue will be closed, as well as a portion of Gurnee Avenue that extends nearly to the Community Corrections parking area.

All of the closures associated with the grand opening of the courthouse will be lifted after the event concludes in the afternoon of Monday, May 9th.

May 7th | NICA Block Party on 10th Street

  • On Saturday, May 7th (05/07/22), 10th Street from Noble Street to Gurnee Avenue will be closed from 7:00 AM until 9:00 PM for a National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) block party being hosted by the Northeast Alabama Bicycling Association (NEABA).

May 9th – May 10th | Baltzell Gate Road

  • The City of Anniston’s Street Department will be closing Baltzell Gate Road, at its intersection with McClellan Boulevard up to its intersection with Galloway Road, on Monday, May 9th (05/09/22) through Tuesday, May 10th (05/10/22) from 6:00 AM until 2:00 PM each day.

The purpose of this closure is so our Street Department team may re-stripe the road.
