Calhoun County, AL – Popular brand back as name of the Sunny King Charity Classic championship flight; includes SKCC history
The Ford Mustang is back at the front of the parade.
After being parked the last two Sunny King Charity Classics, the popular car brand is once again the name of the event’s Championship Flight. It’s the tenth time the flight has carried the name since 2009.
The top flight has been Mustang every year from 2012 through 2018 until tournament organizers pumped the brakes in favor of the Ford Lightning in 2019 and 2021. COVID cancelled the tournament in 2020.
Flight names have always been drawn from the brands offered by the title sponsor Sunny King Automotive Group.
The First Flight is the Acura MDX for the third year in a row. The Third, Fourth and Fifth Flights are named Ford F-150, Honda Pilot and Toyota Tacoma, respectively, for the first time since 2018.
The 43rd Classic tees off with 206 teams Friday.
