National Police Week Brings Opportunity to Honor Law Enforcement in Calhoun County

Anniston, AL – At the Calhoun County Commission meeting on 5/11/2023 a check for $5,000 was given to the Alabama Law Enforcement Appreciation Foundation (ALEAF). The Calhoun County Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee was formed by citizens of Calhoun County with a mission to show local law enforcement how thankful the community is for their service. The goal is to provide one week filled with food, prizes and friendship for all law enforcement personnel in our county during Law Enforcement Appreciation Week every year. May 14th – 20th is National Police Week and ALEAF will be hosting lunch a the Anniston Meeting Center at 11:00 am for law enforcement. There will be $40,000 in door prizes given out to law enforcement as well. On Friday the 19th the Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony will be held at Centennial Memorial Park (225 E 17th St, Anniston, AL 36207) at 11:00 AM.

National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Join Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, and other public officials, as they honor those who walk the blue line and have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

In addition reminder to fly flags at half-staff On May 15, National Peace Officers Memorial Day. This tribute to American law enforcement officers is part of the crime bill that President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1994. At the request of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Public Law 103-322, designates Peace Officers Memorial Day as one of only two days each year during which government agencies, businesses and residents are to fly their U.S. flags at half-staff.
