The Department of Art and Design will host an opening reception for “Geometric Aljamía: a Cultural Transliteration” on Sept. 23, 5-7 p.m., in the Hammond Hall Gallery. Featuring the works of Reni Gower, Jorge Benitez, Julia Townsend and Hanane Korchi, the collection focuses on the geometry embedded in two-dimensional art – connecting Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Next door at the Roundhouse Gallery, the capstone thesis project of MFA candidate Carol Record will be on display. The exhibits will be up through Oct. 14. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact Morgan Worsham, gallery coordinator, at mworsham@jsu.edu for more information.
