New Mayors and City Council Members Sworn In Across Calhoun County

Calhoun County, AL – Across Calhoun County, residents gathered on Monday at various locations as municipalities held official swearing-in ceremonies for newly elected mayors and city council members. The cities of Jacksonville, Hobson City, Anniston, Ohatchee, Piedmont, Weaver, and Oxford each welcomed their leadership teams for the new term, marking the beginning of continued public service and new opportunities for local governance.

In Ohatchee, Mayor Todd Eubanks took the oath of office alongside council members Wesley Walker, Leigh Gardner, Raymond Underwood, Bryan Griffith, and Wayne Carden. The group begins its term focused on representing residents and supporting the town’s ongoing community initiatives.

The City of Piedmont also held its ceremony Monday as Mayor Kevin Farmer was sworn in to continue his leadership of the city. Joining him on the council are Brittney Williams (District 1), Keven McCord (District 2), Frank Cobb (District 3), Mark Epps (District 4), Greg South (District 5), Carlos Farmer (District 6), and Matt Rogers (District 7).

In Anniston, newly sworn-in Mayor Ciara Smith was joined by council members Lewis Downing (Ward 1), Erica Tolson (Ward 2), Joe Harrington (Ward 3), and Julie Moss (Ward 4). Anniston’s leaders are expected to continue work on revitalization efforts, neighborhood development, and community engagement.

The City of Jacksonville celebrated as Mayor Mark Jones and council members Andy Green (Place 1), Terry Wilson (Place 2), James Newell (Place 3), Sherry Laster (Place 4), and Marques Green (Place 5) took their oaths. Jacksonville’s leadership team will oversee upcoming city projects and community partnerships aimed at supporting both residents and students in the area.

In Hobson City, Mayor Alberta McCrory began another term in office, joined by council members LaKeisha Fantroy, Carthell Green, Coretta Chandler, Frederick Striplin, and Anita Jackson. Hobson City’s officials remain dedicated to preserving the city’s rich history while encouraging growth and opportunity for its citizens.

The City of Oxford saw Mayor Alton Craft and council members Phil Gardner, Charlotte Hubbard, Mike Henderson, Chris Spurlin, and Steven Waits officially sworn in. The Oxford City Council will continue to focus on managing growth, supporting local business development, and maintaining strong community services.

In Weaver, Mayor Jeff Clendenning was joined by council members Clint Burns, Tim McRae, Cathy Hamby, Danielle Presley, and Jeff Hughes as they were sworn in to represent the city’s residents.

Monday’s ceremonies marked a day of transition and optimism throughout Calhoun County as communities welcomed both new and returning leaders. Each municipality begins its new term united by a shared goal — to strengthen local government, foster economic development, and enhance the quality of life for residents across the region.
