OHATCHEE, AL — A man wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation was taken into custody Friday following the execution of an arrest warrant by multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to the Ohatchee Police Department, officers with the department, agents from the 7th Judicial Circuit Major Crimes Unit, deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, and officers with the Oxford Police Department executed an arrest warrant for Luke Earl Jones at a residence located at 451 Jackson Trace Road in Ohatchee on June 26, 2026.
Authorities said Jones was wanted on a charge of Attempted Murder stemming from an incident that occurred on June 20, 2026, in Ohatchee with no bond.
Law enforcement officials reported that the arrest warrant was executed without incident. Following his arrest, Jones was transported by an Ohatchee Police Department officer to the Calhoun County Jail.
Jones is currently being held without bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
In a statement, Ohatchee Director of Public Safety and Police Chief Alan Kelly thanked the agencies involved in the investigation and arrest.
“I would like to thank all those who assisted with this case and I look forward to working with the District Attorney’s office as we prosecute this case,” Kelly said.
As with all criminal cases, Jones is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
