Ohatchee Town Council Reviews Audit, Approves Pay Scale Adjustment and Administrative Updates

OHATCHEE, AL — The Ohatchee Town Council met for its regular monthly work session on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Complex, with Mayor Todd Eubanks presiding.

Council members Wesley Walker, Leigh Gardner, Raymone Underwood, Bryan Griffith and Wayne Carden were present, along with members of the community.

During the meeting, council members reviewed and approved the work session and minutes from the January 27, 2026 regular council meeting.

The council also approved Resolution R-26-02-01, reclassifying the position of Chief of Police to Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police. The change is intended to reflect updated administrative responsibilities within the department.

In other business, the council approved a pay scale increase for town employees. The adjustment utilizes the pay scale established in 2023 and is intended to ensure employee compensation aligns with comparable municipalities in the area. The increase will take effect with the next payroll cycle.

Mayor Eubanks and council members also approved voting delegates to represent the Town of Ohatchee at the Alabama League of Municipalities Annual Business Session, scheduled for April 28–30, 2026, in Montgomery. Mayor Eubanks will serve as the voting delegate, with Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne Carden as first alternate and Council Member Raymone Underwood as second alternate.

A proclamation recognizing National FFA Week was signed by Mayor Eubanks and presented by Ohatchee High School FFA teacher Mr. Williamson along with FFA students in attendance.

Additionally, Coosa Riverkeeper announced plans for a community river cleanup at Harts Ferry Park and Boat Ramp, located at 6401–6695 AL Hwy 77 in Ohatchee. The cleanup is scheduled for February 28 at 9 a.m., and community members are encouraged to register to volunteer.

The council also received a presentation of the town’s 2025 audit from MDA Professional Group and discussed additional routine agenda items during the session.
