Anniston, AL – Dog lovers and thrill-seekers from across the region will converge in Anniston this Saturday, May 17, for the OneWorld Canine Obstacle Run—an exhilarating event hosted at the expansive OneWorld Pet Resort at 315 Rucker Street in McClellan. The action begins at 8:00 a.m.
Founded by the “Mad Brit,” the OneWorld Canine Obstacle Run is not your typical race. This unique event invites teams of dogs and their owners to tackle a more-than-four-mile course filled with over 40 purpose-built obstacles. From navigating dense woodlands to traversing sand, dirt, and water, the course is designed to test endurance, teamwork, and the strength of the bond between canine and handler.
The event is open to all—from casual pet owners and seasoned athletes to professional handlers, Search & Rescue teams, police K9 units, and military working dog teams. Participants as young as 10 years old are welcome, and time handicaps are applied based on the ages of both handler and dog, creating a level playing field for competitors.
Saturday’s race is just one part of the three-day celebration. Festivities kick off Friday evening, May 16, with early packet pickup from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. accompanied by live music, a beer truck, and a cocktail area. On race day, the event will feature vendor booths, games, demonstrations, food trucks, and beverage areas. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., followed by an evening of live music, free drinks for participants, and fireside gatherings around the main stage.
Competitors may register individually or as part of a team, and awards will be given in multiple divisions, including Youth (16 and under), Search & Rescue, Law Enforcement, Active Duty Military, Military Veterans, International, Masters (60+), and Individual. Those with more than one dog have the option to run the course twice, with both times eligible for awards.
For those staying the weekend, the OneWorld Pet Resort offers over 130 state-of-the-art kennels, available for half or full boarding. RV and tent camping options are also available on-site, enhancing the festival atmosphere—$15 for tent camping and $20 for RVs.
The obstacle run promises a unique and rewarding challenge, all while celebrating the special bond between humans and their dogs. For more details or to register, visit:
