Oxford to Play Host National Professional Fishing League Tournament for Second Consecutive Year

National Professional Fishing League returns to Oxford, Alabama

Oxford, AL – The National Professional Fishing League (NPFL) has announced that Oxford, Alabama, will again be part of its tournament schedule, marking the second consecutive year the city will host a major league event. The 2025 tournament will be held at Logan Martin Lake from September 25 to 27, with launch operations taking place at Lincoln’s Landing each morning and weigh-ins in Oxford.

“Creating our tournament schedule is one of the most challenging things we do each year,” said NPFL President Brad Fuller. “Our complete regular season schedule for 2025 should be ready very soon, but we’re excited to announce what’s already been secured. We think it’s the best schedule we’ve ever assembled, and it promises to deliver a year of competition, content, and camaraderie to further elevate the League for our fans, our partners, and our anglers.”

Oxford’s partnership with the NPFL has been seen as a success, especially after the inaugural 2024 season opener. Reflecting on the event, Oxford Mayor Alton Craft expressed enthusiasm about the tournament’s return. “The City of Oxford looks forward to hosting the National Professional Fishing League again in 2025,” said Craft. “Oxford’s inaugural partnership with the NPFL in 2024 proved to be a success for both as it boosted our local tourism and economy, while the visiting professional anglers found a variety of ways to engage and entertain our youngsters, senior citizens, and everyone in between. We are pleased to welcome back this positive, family-friendly experience which brings together good sportsmanship, community spirit, and the fun of fishing.”

The 2024 event at Logan Martin Lake, held in March, saw Will Harkins secure the win amidst challenging conditions, with high, muddy water affecting strategies and results. The NPFL’s upcoming fall tournament, however, is expected to bring fresh challenges and unique opportunities for participating anglers. The timing shift from early spring to fall aims to test competitors’ skills in a new seasonal context, highlighting the league’s commitment to diversifying the fishing experience.

The complete NPFL 2025 schedule will be released soon, but the return to Oxford underscores the league’s dedication to involving local communities and fostering a spirit of camaraderie. The 2025 tournament is anticipated to draw large crowds and continue its positive economic impact on the area, further solidifying the city’s reputation as a prime destination for competitive fishing.
