Oxford, AL – The Oxford Arts Council, led by Cindy Williams, is inviting the community to help celebrate Oxford, Alabama, at its best by participating in a special writing contest. This competition is designed to highlight the city’s new tagline, “Oxford, Alabama at Its Best,” by encouraging writers to share their creativity and personal experiences.
Participants are invited to submit a poem or essay that captures the essence of Oxford in one of the following ways:
- Memories of places in Oxford or its surrounding communities that exemplify Oxford at its finest.
- Humorous events in Oxford’s history that showcase its unique charm.
- Individuals who personify Oxford at its best.
- Events that highlight the city’s excellence.
Adult Contest Details
The contest is open to all adults aged 19 to 100.
- Submission Deadline: June 16, 2025.
- Recognition: Winners will be honored during Oxford’s 4th of July celebration at Oxford Lake and at various community events. Selected entries will also be featured in publications and on social media.
- Submission Guidelines: Entries must be original and no longer than 500 words. Plagiarism, submissions created by others, or AI-generated content will not be accepted.
