OXFORD, AL — The Oxford City Council unanimously approved all items on its agenda during its regular meeting Tuesday evening while also recognizing the Oxford High School Mountain Bike Team for its recent Division 2 State Championship.
Prior to conducting regular business, the council presented a proclamation honoring the Oxford High School Mountain Bike Team for capturing the Division 2 State Championship. City leaders recognized the riders and coaches for their successful season and achievement.
Following the proclamations, the council conducted a public hearing regarding a request from Fireside Holdings LLC to rezone property located at 8 B Main Street from Residential 1 (R-1) to General Business (GB). The council also considered the related rezoning ordinance.
Among the measures unanimously approved by the council were:
- An ordinance annexing property owned by Marshall and Cristina McKinney at 3105 Apple Valley Lane into the City of Oxford.
- An ordinance amending the city’s traffic code to establish a three-way stop intersection at Choccolocco Street, Whiteside Drive, and McCain Street.
- A resolution authorizing the mayor to execute a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championship Host Agreement covering the years 2029 through 2034.
- A resolution authorizing the purchase of Ringlock scaffolding from AT-PAC in the amount of $59,782.15.
