Oxford City Schools Board of Education Announces New Principal for Oxford High School

Oxford, AL – The Oxford City Schools Board of Education is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Seth Taylor as the new principal of Oxford High School. His selection was approved during this morning’s board meeting, and he will begin his transition into the role over the next few weeks.

“We are thrilled to welcome Seth Taylor to Oxford High School. His successful administrative experiences and dedication to developing and fostering a safe and positive learning environment will be invaluable to our students, staff, and community. We look forward to the innovative leadership and fresh perspectives he will bring to our district,” said Dr. Shannon Stanley, the district’s superintendent.

Mr. Taylor brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as an educator for 15 years. His career began at Munford Middle School and continued at B.B. Comer High School and Jacksonville High School, where he taught for several years. In 2016, he received his Instructional Leadership Certification and became an assistant principal at Lincoln High School. Within two years, he accepted the principal position at Munford High School, later becoming principal at Pleasant Valley High School in 2020, and principal at Saks High School in 2022. As a teacher, he is certified as a mathematics instructor for grades 6-12 and spent seven years in the classroom before transitioning to administration.

Mr. Taylor’s academic credentials are extensive. He holds an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama (2017), a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Jacksonville State University (2016), a Business Administration degree with a focus in Economics from Auburn University of Montgomery (2008), and an Associate of Arts from Central Alabama Community College. Additionally, he is certified in 6-12 Mathematics from Jacksonville State University (2013) and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama.

Beyond his educational achievements, Mr. Taylor is actively involved in the professional organization, Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS). He is currently the President of the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals affiliate and serves as the District 6 Board member for CLAS. In this capacity, he mentors fellow secondary administrators and provides guidance for newly appointed principals. His commitment to building relationships with staff and students is at the forefront of his leadership approach.

Mr. Taylor is married to Amy, a school nurse, and they have five children: Madison (29), Mallory (25), Kody (20), Callee (16), and Reid (11). He values spending time with his family and attending his children’s events, which he finds most rewarding. The Taylor family also enjoys participating in school events for the students he serves, celebrating their successes and supporting their growth.
