Oxford City Schools Cleared as Safe Following Bomb Threat

Oxford, AL – Oxford City Schools were cleared and declared safe following a bomb threat directed at Oxford High School (OHS) early this morning. The threat, received via a phone call shortly after 7:00 a.m., prompted immediate action by school administrators and law enforcement.

According to Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge, the threat was treated with the utmost seriousness. “The OHS campus was cleared by public safety. We believe now this was a spoofed call that investigators have been tracking this morning,” Chief Partridge stated.

As a precaution, all Oxford City School buildings were placed in a secure hold while authorities assessed the situation. During a secure hold, external doors remain locked, and no one is permitted to enter or leave the buildings.

An initial statement released on social media by the school system informed the public of the situation, assuring parents and guardians that students and staff were safe and following established safety protocols. The message also urged individuals not to approach the high school to avoid interfering with law enforcement efforts.

The Oxford Police Department (OPD) conducted a thorough investigation and sweep of the high school campus. By mid-morning, all schools had been given the all-clear, and normal schedules resumed.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” the school system stated. They expressed gratitude to the OPD for their swift response and professionalism in handling the incident.

Investigators continue to track the origins of the threat, believed to be a spoofed call—a method used to disguise the caller’s identity. Authorities have not reported any credible evidence of danger.

Parents and community members are commended for their cooperation during the secure hold. Oxford City Schools and local law enforcement reiterate their commitment to ensuring a safe environment for all students and staff.
