In the Oxford work session on January 25, 2022 President Pro-tem, Steven Waits gave an update on Chief Gary Sparks. According to Councilman Waits he is being moved out of the ICU into a regular room and is feeling much better. He was noted to be in good spirits. This is positive news and we know the community looks forward to Chief Spark’s full recovery.
UPDATE:
We spoke with Chief Sparks directly and he wanted the community to understand how grateful he is for everyone’s thoughts and prayers while he has been in the hospital.
Chief Sparks then explained that he went to the hospital because he was not feeling well and believed it may have been an infection. The hospital was able to confirm it was an infection and that IV antibiotics were needed to fight it. The hospital also noted that his blood pressure was too low, so they placed into the ICU to monitor him closely while they provided antibiotics. Once the blood pressure concern was removed Chief Sparks was taken out of ICU and transferred to a regular room.
The Chief stated he will remain in the hospital for as long as the doctors recommend but he does think he will be released later this week and hopes to be back at work next week.
