Oxford High School Launches Summer Industrial Robotics Bootcamp in Partnership with Alabama Robotics Technology Park and AIDT

Oxford, AL — This summer, Oxford High School (OHS) will serve as the pilot school for a groundbreaking statewide K12 workforce development initiative. The school has partnered with the Alabama Robotics Technology Park (RTP) and Alabama’s workforce training agency, AIDT, to host an Industrial Robotics Bootcamp. This program marks the kickoff of a broader effort to prepare students across Alabama for careers in robotics and automation.

The robotics bootcamp will be held in OHS’s state-of-the-art Modern Manufacturing building, offering high school students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in robotic handling and programming. Participants will program robots to perform tasks related to modern manufacturing, engage in team-based projects, and interact with industry professionals, providing them with invaluable insights into the field.

“With the increasing demand and lucrative salaries in robotics and automation, this bootcamp addresses a critical need in today’s job market,” said Ed Castile, Executive Director of AIDT. “AIDT and RTP are thrilled about this initiative and look forward to collaborating with our future workforce.”

This initiative aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in robotics and automation. By introducing students to these fields early, the program seeks to inspire a new generation of engineers and technologists. The bootcamp at OHS is the first of many educational programs designed to equip high school students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the rapidly evolving manufacturing sector.
