Oxford, AL – The Oxford city council held its regularly scheduled meeting on August 9th, 2022 at 6:30pm.

  • Approval of Minutes of July 26, 2022 – Unanimously Approved

    • Proclamation – Oxford Baseball for Youth – 10 and Under State Champions
      • Congratulations were made to the Oxford All-Star team and their coaches for winning the 2022 State Championship. We extend our best wishes to all of these talented young athletes for continued success in future competitions. Team: Noah Snyder, Jrue Fletcher, Thomas Humphries, Sam Fetner, Grayson Greenwood, Paul Maniscalco, Knox Whitman, Brody Cotton, Luke Robertson, Jace Jinks and Jaxson Gossage. Coaching staff: Tony Maniscalco, Clark Jinks and Chase Greenwood.

      • Congratulations were made to the Oxford All-Star team and their coaches for winning the 2022 State Championship and being the 2022 World Series Runner-up. Team: Rhett Riley, Roman Maniscalco, Nate Skinner, Dax Jenkins, Ramsey Robbs, Keenan Williams, Javy Ortiz Jr., Ryker Riley, John Burt, Ace Truss, Chase Gravitt, and Ethan Waugh.       • Resolution No. 2022 – 88 – Resolution authorizing a tax abatement agreement for Wellborn Cabinet Inc.
        • Wellborn Cabinet Inc. has submitted application to the City for abatement of all State and local noneducational property taxes and construction taxes to aid and assist in future manufacturing, expansion of the existing plant and product development with a total investment of $18,453,175
      • Resolution No. 2022- 89 – Resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign the McKesson Corporation Settlement Sign-On Agreement and the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) Pharmaceuticals Settlement Sign-On Agreement
      • Resolution No. 2022- 90 – Resolution authorizing an appropriation of $3,764.00 as part of the 20% local match for the purchase of a high roof transit van with rear wheel chair lift for the Oxford Senior Center
      • Resolution No. 2022- 91– Resolution adopting modifications to the City’s Employee Handbook with the exception page 27 which includes preemployment procedures.
      • Resolution No. 2022- 92 Resolution amending the budget and authorizing the Mayor to issues funds not to exceed $3,000 to Keep Oxford Beautiful for fencing and other supplies.
  • Council Comments/Reports
    • Councilman Mike Henderson wanted to read an email sent to Tom Dickerson of the Health Authority commending the services rendered to a 49 year old male who went into cardiac arrest on I20. This man is making great improvements and the email stated “You literally saved this man’s life.” Councilman Henderson wanted to thank all the fist responders in the city for all they do day in and day out.
  • Mayor’s Comments
    • The Mayor wanted to say how amazing the competitors are for the Rubato Piano Competition. Participants range in age from 12 to their 20’s. He went on to say they are humble and just “amazing young people.
    • He also wanted to say how excited he was that Wellborn Cabinets has chosen Oxford as its newest location. He wanted to thank the everyone invoked particularly Don Hopper. He also wanted to stress what a great family business this was.
