OXFORD, AL — Oxford Parks and Recreation will host a community litter cleanup at Oxford Lake Park on Thursday, April 16, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to keep the city’s public spaces clean and welcoming.
The event is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. and will follow a casual, come-and-go format designed to accommodate participants of all ages. Volunteers are invited to stop by for any amount of time during the two-hour window, with all cleanup supplies provided by organizers.
Participants are asked to gather at Pavilion #10, located between the Oxford Civic Center and the park playground area. Community members are encouraged to bring friends, family, or attend individually to help make a positive impact while enjoying time outdoors.
The cleanup is part of the National Recreation and Parks Association Recycling Race, a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting environmental responsibility through litter removal, recycling, and community engagement.
Organizers say that even small contributions can make a meaningful difference in maintaining the beauty of local parks and public spaces.
