Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations

Oxford, AL – The Oxford Performing Arts Center will present the Broadway musical Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations in a three-night engagement from July 15 through July 17, 2025. Each performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. at 100 E Choccolocco Street in Oxford, AL. End times are estimated and may vary.

The production traces the journey of The Temptations, one of Motown’s most influential vocal groups, from their origins in Detroit to their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Known for their signature harmonies and choreography, The Temptations produced 42 Top Ten hits, 14 of which reached number one.

Ain’t Too Proud was nominated for 12 Tony® Awards and won the 2019 Tony for Best Choreography. The musical explores not only the group’s professional success but also their personal challenges and the broader social issues of the era. Themes of family, loyalty, and political tension are woven into the narrative as the group navigates fame during a decade marked by civil unrest.

Written by Dominique Morisseau, a three-time Obie Award winner, and directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, the production features choreography by Sergio Trujillo, also a Tony Award recipient. The musical showcases a soundtrack filled with well-known hits, including “My Girl,” “Get Ready,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”
