OXFORD, AL – The Oxford Police Department will join forces with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department for a community “meet and greet” ice cream social on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4 until 6 p.m. The event will take place at Below Zero Creamery, located at 614 Hale Street, Suite E, in Oxford.
The gathering, organized through the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Alabama Law Enforcement Appreciation Foundation (ALEAF), is open to the public. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend, purchase their favorite flavor of ice cream, and take the opportunity to engage with local law enforcement officers in an informal setting.
Oxford Police Chief and Director of Public Safety Bill Partridge emphasized the importance of these conversations. “The Oxford Police Department invites you to pull up a chair, grab some ice cream, and get to know our officers and take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions, tell us about your neighborhood, or share your concerns,” Partridge said. “These conversations are both informal and informative. We just want to interact with our residents and visitors to see how we can do a better job serving our community.”
Calhoun County Sheriff Falon Hurst echoed that sentiment. “We want our community to know that law enforcement is approachable and here to listen,” Hurst said. “Events like this allow us to build stronger connections with the people we serve, and we look forward to hearing directly from our neighbors in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.”
Tobi Burt, Chairman for ALEAF also shared their support. “We are proud to sponsor and be a part of an event like this,” Burt said. “Any opportunity that brings the community and law enforcement together in a positive way is something we stand behind, and we’re honored to contribute.”
The event underscores the shared commitment of both agencies and ALEAF to community engagement, transparency, and accessibility.
