Oxford, AL – On May 18th, 2023, at approximately 10:00 pm, the Oxford Police Department was dispatched to conduct a welfare check on a resident. Upon arrival, responding officers located Pamela Williams, 67, of Oxford, deceased in her residence. Investigators were requested to the scene and a preliminary investigation was started. The cause of death was not immediately known so the victim was sent to the Medical Examiner for a full autopsy.
During the course of their investigation a potential suspect was identified. Kyle Thomas Krieger, 29, of Oxford is the son of the victim and was also living in the same residence. Investigators learned that Krieger had been in contact with other members of his family and had too much knowledge about the crime scene. They were also alerted to the fact that Krieger had fled the State of Alabama and went to Carson County Texas which is a part of the panhandle. Investigators were able to secure enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for Krieger and Texas authorities took him into custody. While in the Texas jail Krieger attempted to fight extradition, but after a Governors warrant was secured he was ultimately brought back to Calhoun County. Krieger has been charged with Murder and is being held with no bond.
The investigation is still ongoing and Oxford Police are requesting that anyone with information about this case to please contact the investigator, Sgt. Johnathan Butler, at (256) 835-6136.
