Oxford, AL – Oxford Police Chief and Director of Public Safety Bill Partridge has officially endorsed former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell in his campaign for Attorney General.
Chief Partridge, a 36-year law enforcement veteran who has led the Oxford Police Department since 2007, is widely recognized for transforming the department into one of the most advanced, collaborative, and community-oriented agencies in the Southeast. During his tenure, Oxford PD has adopted cutting-edge technology, strengthened partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies, and established itself as a statewide model for critical response training.
In announcing his endorsement, Partridge highlighted Mitchell’s understanding of the needs and challenges faced by law enforcement professionals.
“Jay has demonstrated a deep, enduring commitment to law enforcement in our state,” Partridge said. “He understands the challenges faced by our officers and the crucial role they play in maintaining public safety. His support for law enforcement is not just about backing the tools and resources officers need, but also about reinforcing the trust and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. By investing in both the legal framework and the practical needs of law enforcement, Jay aims to create an environment where every Alabama resident feels secure and protected.”
Mitchell expressed gratitude for the endorsement and praised Partridge’s leadership.
“Take a look at what Chief Partridge has built in Oxford and see how it serves the entire state! His record of raising the bar for law enforcement in Alabama speaks for itself, and his endorsement is a great honor,” Mitchell said.
He added that as Attorney General, he intends to ensure law enforcement leaders have the resources and respect they deserve.
“Alabama’s law enforcement officers are on the frontlines of protecting our communities—and they’ll always have my full support,” Mitchell said.
Chief Partridge’s endorsement joins a growing coalition of law enforcement leaders across Alabama who have voiced their trust in Mitchell’s commitment to supporting public safety and standing firm against crime.
