Oxford, AL – The Oxford Police Department announced the arrest of 18-year-old Zakadyn Xiere Hawkins of Madison in connection to a shooting investigation involving an occupied vehicle.
According to police, Hawkins has been charged with two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and is currently being held on a $30,000 bond.
Authorities also confirmed that two juveniles have been taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault in relation to the case. Investigators say one additional individual remains at large and is the subject of a pending first-degree assault charge.
Law enforcement officials stated that investigators are actively pursuing leads to locate and apprehend the remaining suspect.
In a statement released by the department, officials emphasized that violent criminal activity will not be tolerated in the city.
“If you come to our city to commit crimes, especially acts of violence, you will be identified, arrested, and held accountable,” the statement read.
The department also praised the work of its officers and investigators for their efforts in advancing the case and continuing to protect the community.
