Oxford, AL – On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at approximately 3:30 pm the Oxford Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit conducted a traffic stop regarding a possible traffic infraction. The White GMC stopped on the shoulder of I-20 and the officer’s initiated contact with the driver. During the officer’s interaction with the driver, they identified a small amount of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.
Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and were able to locate one kilo of Cocaine and a Taurus .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the Oxford Jail. The drivers name will be released once he is transported and booked into the Calhoun County Jail.
Captain Josh Miller of with the Oxford Police Department advised he was, “Proud of the officers that work so hard to get these dangerous drugs off the street.”
Earlier today, Chief Bill Partridge, issued a tweet that announced, “This is a kilo of cocaine and weapon, that won’t be used in our community, thanks to the good work of our street crimes unit.”
