Oxford Public Library Hosts ‘Thinking Money for Kids’ Event

Thinking Money for Kids Games

Oxford, AL – On Wednesday, March 26, at 10 a.m., the Oxford Public Library will host Thinking Money for Kids: Games, an interactive event designed to teach children financial literacy through fun and engaging activities.

The event will feature three hands-on games that introduce money management concepts in an enjoyable and educational way:

  • Currency Conga: A fast-paced game where children identify and interact with real coins and bills on a vinyl mat, improving their currency recognition and money math skills. The game can be adjusted for different age groups, incorporating addition, multiplication, and percentages for older kids.

    Application
  • Penny Pinchers’ Party: Participants become party planners with a $100 budget, selecting items for their event while making strategic financial decisions. After presenting their plans, a Party Champion may be chosen based on creativity and budget management.

  • Pet Cents: Players take on the responsibilities of pet ownership, making financial decisions at various stations around the room. They track transactions on a Pet Card while navigating unexpected expenses and financial gains, all with the goal of meeting their pet’s needs while managing their money wisely.

This event, held at 110 E. 6th Street, Oxford, AL, offers a dynamic way for children to develop essential financial skills in a playful environment.
