Oxford, AL – Young learners in Oxford will soon have an engaging way to explore financial topics such as earning, saving, spending, and budgeting, thanks to a new offering at the Oxford Public Library. Beginning in March, the library will host in-person financial literacy programs and offer Playaway Launchpad tablets loaded with interactive money-themed games for at-home learning.

The initiative is part of the Thinking Money for Kids program, made possible through a Program Kit from the American Library Association (ALA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. Oxford Public Library is one of only 300 libraries nationwide selected to receive these resources, designed for children ages 3 to 12.

Library Director Amy Henderson expressed excitement about the new program, stating, “We encourage parents to visit the library to check out a Playaway Launchpad tablet to bring home. These brand-new tablets are pre-loaded with fun financial education games. Our library will also be hosting a series of games designed to teach and encourage financial literacy.”

The kid-friendly Playaway Launchpad tablets can be checked out for two weeks, require no internet connection, and include engaging games such as Pet Cents, Making Mooo-lah, Currency Conga, and Penny Pinchers’ Party. The library will also host in-person activities tied to these games, allowing children to learn financial concepts in a hands-on environment.

Special Event Dates:

Monday, March 24, at 5 p.m. – Making Mooo-lah
Wednesday, March 26, at 10 a.m. – Currency Conga, Penny Pinchers’ Party, and Pet Cents

Families are invited to visit the Oxford Public Library, located at 110 E. 6th Street, to explore these exciting new resources and help their children build essential financial skills in a fun and engaging way.
