Oxford to Honor Local Veterans with “Heroes on Main” Celebration May 31

Oxford, AL — The City of Oxford and Historic Main Street Oxford invite the public to a heartfelt celebration of local military service at the upcoming “Heroes on Main: Oxford’s Hometown Veterans Celebration” on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in Simmons Park, located in the heart of historic downtown Oxford.

This special event marks the official unveiling of 44 tribute banners honoring Oxford’s veterans, which will be proudly displayed along Choccolocco Street and Main Street from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. The initiative is a visible reminder of the sacrifices and service of local men and women who have worn the uniform.

The ceremony will include remarks from:

  • Cindy Lett Williams, President of the Oxford Arts Council

  • Hunter Gentry, Director of Historic Main Street Oxford

  • Mayor Alton Craft, City of Oxford

Following the ceremony, Alabama Rain featuring Ryan Robertson will take the stage for a live musical performance in Simmons Park.

Community members are encouraged to stay after the event to explore downtown Oxford’s unique shops and enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants. The event is not only a celebration of veterans but also a moment to bring together friends, family, and neighbors in shared appreciation.
